Education.

 

The education of our showmen children is important, but sometimes our need to travel for work can make this difficult. Here at ACES our Education Officer explains some basic things to remember.

 

The local authority can only fine you for your child missing school, if your child misses more than 10 sessions of school in succession . 1 session is half a day.

 

If both parents need to travel away for work, you should not be fined for taking your child out of school. If this is the case, in theory the attendance records should be marked done with a T, but some schools are not aware, or prepared to do this. 

 

Good communications with your child’s school can solve a lot of issues.  Explain why you need to take your child out of school and what they are going to be doing.

 

 

Our industry has a lot of benefits to your children’s all round education. There can be lots of opportunities to handle money and practice good communication skills with the public.

 

Getting your child to make a scrapbook filled with pictures, drawings and some writing on what they have done, can have great educational benefits. 

 

If your child is going to be missing school for a long period of time, ask their school for education packs to help give structure to their out of school learning.
